You can make selecting freelancers easier by assembling a dedicated "Freelance Team" for each active project.

Look for the Freelance Team tab in the Project window.
After the team is assembled, you will have the option of viewing only freelancers on the team when assigning a job, rather than all the freelancers in the database.
