Problems with XML files counting in the AnyCount word count tool
Posted by - NA - on 15 October 2008 05:24 PM

1. If the AnyCount word count tool displays zero results for an XML file, please make sure that the file contains text between tags.

Note that AnyCount counts text between the tags only.

2. If you see errors when counting xml files, it is possible the structure of the file is incorrect or has been damaged.

Note that the general structure of any .XML file is as follows:

<tag>Text</tag>

Make sure that no opening or closing tag is omitted or duplicated.

There can be also an invalid character which causes the problem. As a rule, AnyCount displays the line where the problem occurred. Please open your XML file with any tag editor software or Notepad and try deleting the invalid character.
